World Driving Permit is a private translation service — not a government agency, and not affiliated with any official permit-issuing authority. We provide certified driving-licence translations — not official International Driving Permits, which only authorised government-appointed bodies (such as AAA/AATA in the US) can issue.

Our documents are translations only

Every document generated by this service carries the notice: "This is a certified translation of your national driving licence, produced by World Driving Permit, a private translation service. It is not a government-issued document and is valid only when presented together with your original driving licence." Presenting our documents as a permit or license is a misuse of the service and may be illegal in your jurisdiction.

Guidance, not legal advice

Country requirement information on this site is compiled from public sources, can change without notice, and is provided as general guidance only. Requirements vary by country. Carry your translation together with your original driving licence and passport; some countries require an official IDP issued by an authorised body in your country of licence.

Official IDPs

International Driving Permits are issued exclusively by bodies authorized by each national government — for example AAA and AATA in the United States. Only an authorised, government-appointed body can issue an official International Driving Permit — be cautious of any site claiming otherwise. World Driving Permit provides certified licence translations with QR verification: a companion to your licence, never a replacement for it or for an official IDP.

No acceptance guarantee

Acceptance of any translation — including certified translations — is always at the discretion of the destination authority, rental company, or insurer. We make no guarantee of acceptance anywhere.
